Nenagh Hospital Action Group brings Report to Oireachtas by charles

The Nenagh Hospital Action Group is following up the very successful local launch of its blueprint for the future of the hospital, entitled “Small Hospital, Big Service”, with a briefing for all members of the Oireachtas, to be held in Buswells Hotel beside Leinster House, this Wednesday, March 29th.

“We are taking our message to the members of the Oireachtas, because we want all our political leaders to be aware of what is in our report and in particular how it is relevant to all General Hospitals and not just Nenagh”, said Paul Malone, Chairman of the Nenagh Hospital Action Group.

“Our message is that Nenagh Hospital works, and small hospitals work. While we have only studied Nenagh, we know that our message applies to many small hospitals around the country and we believe that our public representatives are interested in hearing how it can apply to a hospital close to them”, he said.

He said the country’s smaller hospitals must be seen as part of the solution to the problems facing acute services, not as part of the problem.

“This solution lies between the covers of “Small Hospital, Big Service”, and we want our politicians to know about it”, he said.

Welcome to the Nenagh Hospital Action Group

On Monday 27th march, a very important event will take place in Nenagh, when the  report commissioned by the Nenagh Hospital Action Group on the future of our hospital is launched.

The report is entitled "Small Hospital, Big Service" and is the result of six months of hard work by a project group made up of two hospital consultants, two GPs, representatives of nursing and ambulance staff, as well as two representatives of the Action Group itself, under the guidance of a professional project manager.

To coincide with the launch, we are calling a Public Meeting in the Abbey Court Hotel on Monday 27th at 7.30 p.m. at which we will set out the contents of the report and give you, the members of the public, an opportunity to have a discussion about it.

It is an excellent report, setting out the true facts about Nenagh Hospital, the contribution our hospital makes and how it can be developed in the future.

We believe that it will make a major difference in the future and will allow us to strongly defend Nenagh Hospital and to make the case for developing services at our hospital.

We would be delighted if you could attend the Public Meeting and can we also invite you to tell your family and friends about it and ask them to come along.

A lot of hard work has gone into the report, it is an extremely good one, and we want you to know about it.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday 27th March at 7.30 in the Abbey Court
