19th Annual Respite Weekend & Conference

"Sustaining Care"

26th February - 28th February 2010

                Radisson BLU Hotel & Spa Galway

 

The weekend promotes social inclusion and provides much needed respite and therapy, which enables Family Carers to return to their caring role with, renewed energy and hope.

This year conference will cover items such as:

    • FAIRDEAL SCHEME
    • CARERS WORKSHOPS
    • SUSTAINING CARE

Ministers Eamon O’Cuív Dept. Rural, Community and Gaeltacht Affairs and Áine Brady Dept. Health & Children will address conference. Other speakers include Pascal Moynahan Director Services for Older People and Prof. Joyce O’Connor Patron Caring for Carers Irl.

Conference fee € 200, which includes accommodation and meals.

Reduced fee applies to delegates attending conference only.

Caring for Carers Ireland is a national Non-governmental Organisation supporting Family Carers and those for whom they care.

Caring for Carers Irl National Carers Week 8th - 14th June 2009  

The theme for this year's event is "Sustaining Care in the Home". A number of exciting events will take place throughout the country, hosted by the national network of 90 Carers Groups.  These events include:

  • Open Week at Centres in: Ennis, Limerick, Galway and Cavan - all are welcome      
  • Presentation of Certificates to course participants Ennis Co Clare
  • Information evenings
  • Launch of Nurse Led Carers Clinic in Tuam Co Galway
  • Launch of Pobal National Programme "Training for Carers Measure"

Training for  Carers Measure

Caring for Carers Irl has just started delivering training for Family Carers, under the new Training for Carers Measure funded by Pobal and the Dormants Accounts Fund.  A variety of training courses will be  rolled out throughout the country over the next two years. 

Courses include:

  • Caring in the Home
  • First Aid
  • Computer training
  • Stress Management and Relaxation Therapies

Caring for Carers Hosts International Workshop

Caring for Carers, as a member of Leonardo da Vinci  " Lifelong Educational and Training Programme"  hosted an International Workshop on April 20th - 21st. in Ennis, Co. Clare.  This Workshop focused on the transfer and development of competencies for Family Carers for future employment. Delegates from  France, Spain, Italy, and Slovakia represented overseas caring organisations. This Workshop provided an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and experiences in relation to training for Carers. We wish to thank caring, educational and statutory organisations in County Clare who collaborated in the preparation of this International Workshop.
